The Cinque Terre is a national park declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a region formed by five coastal villages in the province of La Spezia.

  • Monterosso al Mare

  • Corniglia
  • Manarola
  • Riomaggiore

One of the most suggested path is the one the starts near the town of Spezia and connects the five villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso.

The Abruzzi national park

The Abruzzi is the region with the highest density of natural parks of Italy. The Main attractions of Abruzzi are mountains. Great during winter periods…but awesome during sprint, summer and autumn.

The National park of Abruzzi is the most ancient among the Parks of the Apennine mountains.

It’s protects some of the most important species of the Italian fauna:

  • Marsican Brown Bear
  • Abruzzi Chamois
  • Wolf

The park is a great example of sustainable tourism. It join together the conservation of the natural environment with the social-economic development of the local communities.

The Dolomites “vie ferrate”

The Dolomites are the most beautiful mountains in the Alps. They are located 70% in the provinces of Belluno and the rest in the provinces of Bolzano, and Trento.

The Dolomites are a famous tourist destination:

  • For the presence of winter resorts
  • Outdoor activities during the the months (Trekking, Climbing, Mountain biking)

The main centers are: Rocca Pietore, the Marmolada, Alleghe, Falcade, Auronzo, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Arabba, Ortisei and San Martino di Castrozza.

The main attractions are the so called “Vie ferrate“, protected paths created during the First World War. During the world war 1, the Italian army create these paths for their Alpine mountain troops. They fixed iron ladders and wire cables to the rock to enable them to fight on the vertical walls. Today these ‘Iron ways’ have been turned into recreational climbs.

Sardinia and the Grand Canyon of Europe

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily). This is a savage island where find dirt paths and experiences.

It’s the paradise for trekking enthusiasts. The main place is the Gola di Gorroppu (Gorroppu gorge). It is located between the Orgosolo and Urzulei Supramonte area. It is also known as the “Grand Canyon of Europe“.

The Garda lake is the largest lake in Italy. The lake is divided between 3 regions of Italy: Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino.

The lake was formed by the Alpine glaciers at the end of the last glacial age. In its surroundings there is a natural park…the hiker’s paradise.

Apulia and the Gargano

Apulia is the heel of the Italian “boot” (Also called Salento peninsula). The region is rich of natural resources and parks.

The Gargano’s coast is caractherized by gorgeous natural caves and arcs. It offers different natural environments and a place where find the routes of migratory birds.

The territory is rich of roads that circles the mountain. It’s the ideal place for bikers.

Inland on the mountain there is the Umbra Forest, a protected beech, oak, and pine forest with trails and campsites.

The Europe’s tallest volcano: Mount Etna

Mount Etna is the highest active volcano of Europe and the 2° most active in the world. It is on the east coast of Sicily, close to Catania.

Most tourists don’t know that Mt. Etna is a natural park area rich of trekking and biking paths.
